As you consider worshiping at Mount Olive, here is some information to make your visit more enjoyable.
When are worship services?
We worship on 2nd through 5th Sundays at 7:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. On first Sundays, we have one Joint Worship and Communion Service at 9:30 a.m. Our baptismal service takes place on 4th Sundays during the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
Are there sign language services available?
Our 11:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. first Sunday worship services provide interpretation for the deaf and hearing impaired using American Sign Language interpreters.
Are there worship services for children?
Children and Youth Services are held on the lower level on 4th and 5th Sundays during the 11:00 a.m. worship service time.
Is there Sunday School?
Sunday School is held each Sunday at 9:30 AM with the exception of first Sunday when Sunday School begins at 8:45 AM. Classes are available from kindergarten to Senior Adult.
Are there other opportunities for study?
Prayer Meeting – Tuesday @ 7:30 pm
Bible Study for all ages – Wednesday @ 7:00 pm
Mid-Day Bible Study – Thursday @ 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
How do I get there?
Mount Olive is conveniently located in Arlington, Va. near the Pentagon, right off of I-395 at the Washington Boulevard and Columbia Pike exit. Our address is 1601 13th Road South, Arlington, VA 22204. Scroll to bottom of this page for a map and a link to receive directions.
Where do I park?
Mt. Olive is located in a residential setting so parking is available on the streets surrounding the church and in the parking lot of the local elementary school which sits across from our building. As good neighbors we ask you to be mindful of the posted parking regulations.
Is Handicapped parking available?
Handicapped parking spaces are available in the front of the Church on S. 13th Road on Sundays and in the rear parking lot on a first come, first served basis.
Is there a dress code?
Feel free to dress in clothes that are comfortable for you. During the spring and summer months (May – August) we have “casual Sundays” where the congregation and the ministers all dress comfortably for the for the weather
What is worship like at Mount Olive?
As a multi-generational congregation, both of our weekly worship services blend traditional and contemporary styles of music and worship with state of the art technology. We seek to create an atmosphere where each person is free to worship according to dictates of his or her own heart.
How will I know what to do when I arrive for worship?
Mount Olive strives to be an inclusive and welcoming community. When you enter the building, an usher will greet you, hand you a bulletin to help you navigate your way through the service and escort you to a seat in the main sanctuary.
How can I learn about other activities going on at Mount Olive?
The bulletin you receive from the usher will list many of the ministry activities occurring at Mount Olive. If you see something that interests you feel free to attend. You may also return to our website for updated information on ministry events.
Will I be singled out if I’m new?
You are our guest and we want to acknowledge your presence, so we will ask you to please stand so that we can formally welcome you. The option is yours to stand or not, but in either case, you will not be asked to say anything or put on any special nametag.
What happens during the welcome and fellowship period?
Our ushers will give you a welcome packet containing information about Mount Olive to help you learn more about us. Those seated nearby will greet you and welcome you into this community.
Once I have attended worship, how can I stay in touch?
So that we may stay in touch, we ask that you complete the guest information card you received in the welcome packet. Give you completed card to an usher as you leave the worship service and we will add you to our e-newsletter, voicemail, and or text message notification system if you desire.
Is there a way for me to provide feedback about my experience?
Our goal is for you to have the best experience possible, so in the welcome packet you will find a website address where you may visit to complete a survey about your experience at Mount Olive. The survey is anonymous and the data that is collected will help us to serve you and others more effectively.
