Minister of Christian Education

Communications Associate

Administrative Assistant (Part-Time)

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support in carrying out the operational responsibilities of the Church Office. This individual is also the primary administrative assistant for two members of the Church ministerial staff. The successful candidate carries out these functions while providing a cheerful and organized atmosphere for all who enter or contact the Church, meeting the needs of staff, guests, volunteers, and congregants with care and discretion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Provide administrative support for assigned members of the Ministerial staff including scheduling appointments, meeting and travel requirements, preparing and mailing correspondence, emails, handling messages and in-coming mail; preparing reports, presentations, etc.

 Serve as receptionist screening and routing of incoming calls and visitors to the Church; warmly greeting persons with a friendly, courteous and helpful attitude; providing pertinent and appropriate information to callers nd/or visitors

 Maintain Church Calendar; including scheduling of ministry meetings/events and posting events on church website calendar; develop proficiency with electronic scheduling systems

 Provide Office coverage when the Church Secretary/Assistant to the Pastor is absent or unavailable.

 Monitor and maintain office supplies

 Check and distribute incoming mail

 Prepare Disbursement and Deposit voucher requests

 Assist ministry leaders as necessary with clerical, administrative or communication support

 Attend ministry events as necessary

 Attend Administrative Staff and Senior Staff meetings as required

 Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

 The successful applicant will have 2 to 3 years’ experience and can provide evidence of ability to perform as a senior-level administrative assistant, preferably supporting two or more individuals. Knowledge of and experience working in a church or non-profit organization is a plus, as is some knowledge of Baptist polity.

 Outstanding interpersonal skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in English. Spanish language skill is a plus.

 Must have strong clerical skills to include Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook); Desktop publishing software (Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign)

 Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and handle requests from multiple sources.

 Must possess a caring attitude, excellent people skills, high integrity and exercise strict discretion and confidentiality.

 This is a part time position and does not provide any benefits.

 Job Type: Part-time (20 hours per week on average)

 Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

 Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Additional hours may be assigned based on Church needs.

 Custodian

 Mount Olive Baptist Church is seeking experienced Custodians to provide janitorial support.  These are part-time, hourly positions with varied (daytime, evening, weekend) schedules, which average between 8 and 20 hours per week.  Successful candidates will have three or more years of commercial cleaning experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

 Care and upkeep of the church facility and grounds

 Cleaning of the church facility

 Performance of light repairs throughout the building

 Identifies need for repairs or maintenance of areas in the facility and reports to   Church Administrator and Maintenance Committee such  needs

 Maintains janitorial supply inventory and advises the Church Administrator on the ordering of janitorial supplies

 Provide set up and removal of furnishings for church activities

 Assures that the church facilities are open according to the published hours of operation and are prepared for all worship and ministry events.

 May perform janitorial duties at other properties owned by Mount Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, VA

 Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Ability to lift 75 pounds or more.  The employee will occasionally be asked to climb on ladders and should have good balance. This is a position that requires frequent physical movement and the ability to stand, walk, carry, lift, and kneel.

The ability to read and comprehend instructions is required.  Ability to read and comprehend operating manuals for any equipment used.  Proficient in reading, speaking, and writing English is required. Knowledge of and the ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

 3+ years of previous building and grounds experience including commercial cleaning and the proper use of chemicals, products, and equipment for cleaning large buildings

 Knowledge of use and safety regulations for high and low-speed buffers, automatic floor scrubbers, and a carpet extractor.

 Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.  Ability to operate a 15- passenger van is a plus. 

 Background & reference checks, as well as drug screening, will be conducted prior to employment.

 Salary commensurate with experience.
